Electrical Inspections

Your family's safety is paramount and the foremost reason to have an electrical inspection. Every routine call to an electrician is an opportunity to have them inspect your home's wiring to ensure it is up to code and free of safety defects. While some portions of your electrical system may be "grandfathered" and an upgrade is not mandated, it may be in your best interest to have it done voluntarily.

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) for example are just one of the more recent changes to electrical code. Kitchen receptacles for use on counters and bathroom receptacles are required to be protected by GCFI outlets as a precaution against electrocution. This is different than a circuit breaker and if you have a slightly older home you may be lacking this protection.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that each year electrical fires damage more than 24,000 homes, kill 320 people, and injure 830 more. They go on to say "the Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 50 people die every year from accidental electrocutions involving residential wiring, panel boards, circuit breakers, and outlets. Another 40 electrocutions each year involve household appliances that are connected to the wiring of homes."
